World Press Photo - Amsterdam

World Press Photo (WPP) is the world’s largest and most prestigious press photography contest. The winners of the 9 category competition are assembled into a traveling exhibition. The exhibitions world tour starts every year in Amsterdam. This year it opens on April 18 in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in the center of Amsterdam.
It is well worth the effort to stop for a short time from your traditional Amsterdam sight-seeing and enter this temple of talent.
Since the exhibition showcases many different styles and subjects, the visitors often are taken for an emotional rollercoaster ride. From the most beautiful this world has to offer in the recently added nature category to very graphic and hard to digest hard-news photographs.

The contest and exhibition are organized by an independent non-profit organization with its office in Amsterdam. It was here where the WPP was founded in 1955. The exhibition is visited by over two million people in some 45 countries worldwide. A yearbook presenting all prize-winning entries is published annually in six languages. The admission fee to the New Church is €10 per adult. The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 17:00 every day untill June 22nd'
